My stupendous weekend

I drove to L'ville Friday afternoon and spent a wonderful evening with my sweetie. First we ate rosepurr's delectable black bean soup and cornbread. Then we lounged on the couch, watching the latest Margaret Cho concert video "Assassin," which had some very funny moments. Then we adjourned to bed, where I was *finally* able to relax, unwind, and sleep after a very stressful week.

Saturday, we slept late, then went out to breakfast at the brand new Karma Cafe in L'ville. Breakfast was tasty. We then walked around Bardstown Road, taking advantage of the glorious fall weather. We had an Ear X-tasy accident, but it was good because I officially started my Xmas shopping. (I plan to be done by the day after Thanksgiving.) Then we met up with celticmll and cc_wolff at Baxter Avenue theaters to see "Mirrormask." While it's visually stunning, the story is a little thin and it drags a bit.

Then, after a quick clean up and change, rosepurr went to a wonderful production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" by Actors Theater of Louisville. Following the play, we went to our room at the downtown Hyatt for a fantastic evening. We slept in late, got a free breakfast at the hotel (thanks to rosepurr's job; they treat her (& me, by assocation) well), and then ran a couple of errands before I got back on the road for Illinois and she departed for gaming in Cinci.

Oh, yeah, and if I haven't said it enough here or anywhere else for that matter, my sweetie rocks on toast with blackberry jam.

I spent the trip to and fro doing my first reread of the year. I got an audio version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, read by Stephen Fry, from the library (sometimes the audiobook pickings are a little slim). But the true highlight of the trip back was I got to watch the sunset and I've struggled because I want to describe it. The clouds seemed to huddle around the sun and smear themselves across the sky. With the sun blazing as it fell behind the horizon, the clouds took the shape of a giant phoenix emerging from the flames. It was a fitting end to the weekend because I feel reborn. Last week was a stressful struggle. I feel much better.

You're wonderful, and this weekend was a unmitagated joy.
