I haven't written in too long. I'm a bit overwhelmed with my own superiority at the moment. for the past couple of weeks I didn't have Internet in my apartment (long and pretty boring story). So I had to set it up.

For a Luddite like me, this is not a small task. I had to put an Ethernet card in my desktop. I had to get the router and the cables and install it all. And not only did I manage all that, but my network is (reasonably) secure. At least a person casually strolling by or living in a neighboring apartment cannot get into my network. Huzzah for me!

There are a couple of other things going on that make me feel pretty good. I've started walking to work, rather than riding the bus. I feel better for it already. It's a 40-minute walk (about 2.2 miles; the bus, with its roundabout route and frequent stops, took 20-25) and the weather has cooperated completely the last couple of days. I get out my iPod (Did I mention I have an iPod? It's the small one, the Shuffle, which I won in a drawing at the conference back in July, saving me the agony of shopping and paying for one).

Classes for the law school started yesterday (the rest of the university starts tomorrow). It's odd going from the empty library to one full of terrified law students. The first-years have the look of deer in the headlights. (I, no doubt, looked much the same during my first year). I've worked the desk both days and it's been busy, which is a nice change. I forgot how much I enjoy working the desk when there's lots of questions to answer. Tomorrow, I teach my first class for Legal Research. Teaching always puts me in even higher spirits.

I think my vacation did me a world of good, even if it was too short. It was wonderful to get into the mountains. I love and miss Kentucky. Of course, the highlight was rosepurr. I'm the luckiest man ever. I cannot wait to marry her. After three and a half days with very little human contact but her, I just wanted more.

So, with my sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, I lay myself down to sleep.

As Bartles and Jaymes used to say, thanks for your support.

I miss you, too.
