I found this quote online this morning, and it pretty much summarizes my drive back to Urbana from L'ville last night:

"Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything." - Charles Kuralt

However, I did have a fabulous weekend. rosepurr described it well here, but she gets frustrated when I just link and don't include my two cents. The farm, as always, relaxed me a great deal. I had felt bad that I hadn't gotten the ring yet, but we stopped in Danville on the way down and found one that was perfect (In case you haven't seen it the pic is here). The band was on sale, too, so I got that there. (Sorry, no pix of that yet.)

The weather was great. Terri and I went out on the 4-wheeler and did some blackberry picking. I'm still cut to ribbons, but the berries were fantastic. We made muffins out of some of them. Splashing around in the kiddie pool while it poured down rain was so fun. It was fun to watch my sweetie having fun.

And, of course, there was LOTS of snuggling.

Now it's Tuesday morning (one day closer to the weekend). Actually I don't have a full week here in the office for 3 WEEKS. Thanks to the holiday, this week is short. Next Friday, I head to San Antonio for the American Association of Law Librarians (from now on, AALL) conference. That runs until Wednesday of the following week. I'm looking forward to the conference (this will be my first), but I'm not looking forward to Texas in mid-July.

Anyway, I suspect today is mostly just catching up on email and news. The next couple of weeks really won't see much accomplished at work, I suspect.

The ring is gorgeous and the weekend sounds like it was wonderful. Do you remember those blackberry bushes out by the apple tree growing up? We used to pick berries a lot.

Yup. Although I don't remember getting this scratched up. Maybe because I was smaller . . .

No, you just don't care as much when you're little.
BTW...did you know that the big tree behind the house is dead? It has to come down. Dad said he was going to move the big rock by it too and I told him he couldn't move the rock. He thought that was funny.

I think I did know that. Hasn't it been dead for awhile?

Yes, it's looking pretty bad. Sad to see it go, the backyard will look weird without it.
