Jun. 30th, 2005

Ugh, despite the way I felt yesterday, it is finally Thursday.

My neck hurts. I'm not sure why. It's better today; yesterday it contributed to my ennui. I think it might be from sleeping on it wrong. It may also be the way my computer is situated. I often play CD's at work but do it through headphones attached to my computer, but this largely keeps me locked in one place where I probably (though not consciously) keep my head at a weird angle. I've considered an iPod, but I don't know if it's worth it (thoughts?).

This morning, I slept in later than normal and got here a little, but not too, late. We're not on a strict time system, especially during the summer. Unless we have to be on the desk or teach, as long as we get stuff done, anytime is okay. And I am very grateful for coffee. Sometimes a hot cup of coffee is the thin line between hope and despair.

Last night, I finished the hysterical The Wee Free Men. I think rosepurr was surprised it took me as long as it did. This is not a measure of the quality of the book at all. It's a measure of me. I spent a lot of time reading this past weekend, and I think I'm a little burnt out. I've been reading some wonderful books but sometimes I want a bit more interactivity. Plus, once the weekend passed, I've had a lot of stuff to do. On top of all that, I have not been sleeping well all week, so anytime I sit (or more likely lay) down with a book, even as laugh-out-loud funny as this one, my eyes betray me. I have one book I need to finish and return to the library here tonight, but I won't read this weekend (well, except for an audio book to and fro).

So only a day and a half until I see my sweetie, which is at least 26 hours too long.

Guess you'll need a massage from your sweetie this weekend!!!
Get some rest, too, being run down like that is not good. When was your last check-up?

Awhile ago. I need to go. The problem is now I have to find a new doctor here, and go through the rigamarole of that. *sigh*

Why not make an appointment here?

'Cause my insurance won't cover a doctor there, sweetie, unless it's an emergency.

Oh, well, that makes entirely too much sense. Ask your former doctor here if she can make a recommendation.

New doctors are no fun. I moved the whole family to a new place awhile ago and I stayed with my old one. I like her and her methods a lot so I decided to stay. Good luck in your search.

I love this line: Sometimes a hot cup of coffee is the thin line between hope and despair.

I didn't intend to offend you with asking if you were done with Wee Free Men yet. I stayed up late finishing it the day I started it because I thought it was so good.

Sorry your neck still hurts. I love you.

I'm with rosepurr on the coffee line.

As far as the mp3 player question, I would say it's definitely worth it. Having all your music there is a great thing; it eliminates the shuttling of CDs from place to place, and gets rid of the annoying phenomenon of wanting to listen to something, but *oops* you don't have the CD with you. I personally far prefer my Creative Labs mp3 Jukebox Zen (although, lord, what a name) to the iPod, but the iPod's a nice piece of work. Just depends on what you're looking for, really.

Thanks. I've got some research to do.
