Small Victories: Spotting Improbable Moments of GraceSmall Victories: Spotting Improbable Moments of Grace by Anne Lamott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Anne Lamott's nonfiction books have always had a spiritual side, her secular version of Christianity (some might call it left-wing) in evidence. This book, a series of essays as she enters her sixties, finds her struggling at times to live according to her plan, often frustrated by people and politics. Still, she finds ways to cope, most often by just stepping a bit out of the situation and regaining herself. It is a raw and honest, sometimes funny (her experiences on match.com), sometimes sad (so many friends with deadly illnesses), but always smart and not condescending.
