Mile 81Mile 81 by Stephen King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book, originally released only in ebook form and now available as an audiobook (I read it this way), contains two short, creepy stories. In the first (the title story), a young boy exploring an abandoned rest area takes a nap and when he awakes, he finds the rest area populated by two younger children, a horse, and six abandoned vehicles, including one muddy station wagon. In the second, "The Dune," a retired Florida Supreme Court judge tells the story of a mysterious sand dune that he has continually visited since he was 10 years old, becoming, in his words, "addicted" to it for scary reasons. Both stories are genuinely creepy and exceedingly well told (and read in the case of the audiobook).
