WantedWanted by Mark Millar

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I haven't seen the fairly recent movie version of this, but this comic tells a story that is a comic book nerd's adolescent fantasy come true. Wes Gibson works a crappy job, has a girlfriend who's cheating on him with his best friend, and he doesn't seem to want to do much about it. Then, one day, he discovers he's the son of the deadliest assassin in the world and that supervillains actually run the world. Soon, Wes takes over the family business and lives a wild life beyond his imagining. (Wouldn't we all love to find out that our pedestrian lives are b.s., and have a sort of fairy godmother tell us we can actually do whatever we want?) Of course, supervillains can't be trusted and Wes is soon thrust into a battle for his life.

I liked the story as an interesting take on the superhero comic genre and I loved the art by J.G. Jones. Fun, fast-moving, and entertaining.
