Writing and minimalism

I've read a couple of Lee Child's books. Many people really enjoy them. I like them fine, though I feel like the character and the books have a very similar trajectory each time. And, despite all the talk of their fast pace, I sometimes find that they drag a little.

The Wall Street Journal today posts an interesting article about Lee Child and his apartments in NYC.

I'm amused that he finds the displaying of books to be chaotic and pretentious. Those two words may best summarize who I am. (HA!) I actually find sparseness like Child's uncomfortable. While I like clean open spaces, I generally prefer cluttered, almost claustrophobic spaces.

rosepurr would probably say I prefer it too much.

But whatever works. He's written more books than I have.
