Darkness has a hunger that's unsatiable.

Life is good. I shouldn't complain, but I do. rosepurr is on the road again. Our cats are healthy and content. Spring is springing. My mood has improved with the sunlight and warmer temperatures. May is a few days away and, while April has been of social events, May promises even more. So my broody hermit-like ways can be tucked away like wool sweaters.

Yet I'm drawn to darkness.

Recently, if you've been following my posts, I've been reading a lot of heavy stuff. So last night, I decided I just going to relax, feet on the couch, and read some shorter, lighter things as a bit of a break. And yet what I chose deals with madness, revenge and death.

Sigh.

Batman: R.I.P. Deluxe HC (Batman) Batman: R.I.P. Deluxe HC by Grant Morrison

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
An entertaining follow-up and conclusion to Batman: The Black Glove chronicling Batman's descent into madness, in which Bruce Wayne does not exist at all. Only Grant Morrison could do this story this way and make it work.

God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian by Kurt Vonnegut

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
For a NYC radio station in the 1990's, Vonnegut imagined having near-death experiences (through the use of Dr. Kevorkian and Texas's lethal injection) to interview some famous and not-so-famous dead people. The fictions are short (no more than 3 pages) and give Vonnegut a soapbox for some of his pet issues. Definitely not his best or where I recommend someone start with Vonnegut, but those who are already fans will appreciate it.

I've had much the same mindset. When I'm picking up RED DRAGON as a light, fluffy distraction from my troubles, that's a definite indicator.

I suppose, but that's not everything.

R.I.P. had me almost as confused as Final Crisis did. I didn't really care for it at all.

Did you read The Black Glove? I don't know why they separate them, or at least not mark them vol. 1 & vol. 2. They don't make sense without each other.
