Fun story of the day

I decided the canned soup I keep in my office didn't sound very appealing for lunch today. And the weather, though chilly, was nice. A walk would do me good.

So I walked up to the Elliston Soda Shop, which looks a lot like an old-fashioned soda fountain shop. It was and is, but it also serves good cheap meat and threes. Here's pictures (I make no claim to copyright here; I just found these through Google image search):

Inside (linked to from flickr, posted by a guy named Jeff Loe):

Anyway, I walk in and a camera crew is there. I thought at first they were doing some advertising photographs for the place, although the couple of times I've been there they've been pretty busy.

Then I see a well-dressed (as in wearing a tuxedo) man behind the counter who looks really familiar. Hmmm . . .

He picks up . . .

A plate with a violin on it. They take pictures. Finally, I recognize him. He's the new director of the Nashville Symphony, Giancarlo Guerrero. While rosepurr and I have yet to make it to the symphony, we plan to go in the future. The symphony has been doing a lot of publicity featuring Maestro Guerrero around town on billboards and in area newspapers. That's how I recognized him.

So while I ate my country fried steak, mac and cheese, green and pinto beans with cornbread, I watch as they take photos of him holding the plate with the violin on it and then one with a slice of pecan pie. (I resisted getting a slice for myself, but it looked mighty tasty.) I'll probably see the results in Nashville Scene.

Does this count as spotting someone famous in Nashville?

I would say it counts....he may not be "famous" to everyone, but you knew him and it created a great story!!
Looks like a really cool place....
