An Elderly Lady is Up to No GoodAn Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maud is an 88-year-old woman who has lived on her own for a long while and appreciates her calm, quiet life in her large apartment. If something threatens her lifestyle, she is quick to remove it, even if it means murder. These short stories explain her encounters and reasoning and are full of dark humor. A fun little book.

BecomingBecoming by Michelle Obama

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Michelle Robinson grew up in the South Side of Chicago where her strong voice and determinism led her to Princeton and Harvard and to becoming a high-powered corporate lawyer. Her careful plans were upset when she met a young Barack Obama who would become her husband, the father of her children, and the first black President of the United States. He would lead her to examine her purpose and become the powerful voice for women and health she became. At its core, this autobiography is a love story, her love of a man who challenged and loved her and gave her a forum, while providing all the details of life in the White House you would expect. Highly recommended.
