Sunday morning

So I'm sitting here catching up on email and RSS feeds, drinking coffee, with Sunday morning news shows on in the background. I love Sunday mornings. Of course, I prefer them with rosepurr [after all, per the new icon, we have a Sunday morning kind of love], but even alone they are probably my favorite time of the week.

I spent much of yesterday sleeping. I struggled during my abbreviated work week; the trip and driving took a lot more out of me than I expected. I slept and read during the day.

Last night, I bought myself a present. I've been working very hard not buying anything frivolous as I try to pay down the debts, save money for my periodic trips to L'ville, and plan the wedding. But with a very small part of my tax refund, I decided I would allow myself one new video game. So, since it recently went on the PS2's greatest hits line and thus had a nice price cut, I bought God of War. I played for about three hours last night and it's fun and perhaps one of the most violent things I've ever seen. Aside from my weekly night of Guild Wars, which serves as much a social function as it does an entertainment one, I don't play video games as much as I used to. However, I seem to enjoy the most violent ones. It's my way to work out my more hostile emotions, such as after a bad day at work.

Most of the time, though, I just unwind with books, sometimes movies. I don't know if this about maturity or what, but I find reading more satisfying and rewarding than either movies or video games. Alternatively, it's just about me being a pretentious, well-read snob. (YAY!)

When I had a room mate last year, he bought God of War and I watched him play. It is easily one of the most violent games that I have ever watched. It looked like fun though. Maybe I shall consider it when I next get a chance to buy a game.

I understand the bloodlust with video games. Diablo II is like that for me. One click, a scream, and blood flies. It's good stress relief.
