The House of the Four Winds (One Dozen Daughters, #1)The House of the Four Winds by Mercedes Lackey

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Clarice, disguising herself as Clarence, seeks adventure as she heads to the New World. She is one of twelve daughters of the king of a small poor land that cannot afford her dowry. Soon, she gets more than she bargained for as she is involved with mutiny, pirates, magic, and mysterious unknown places. Perhaps, as this is the first book in the series, this novel is doing a lot of establishing of the world, but it does not feel that way. The love story in this is formulaic and predictable, but the rest of the story is entertaining enough.

[I received this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.]
