John Dies at the EndJohn Dies at the End by David Wong

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a very strange horror novel with some really creepy stuff in it. Written by one of the editors of Cracked.com, it does have a fair amount of juvenile and scatological humor as well as flat-out gore, but it is appropriate for this story of two college-age (though clearly not college-bound) friends who stumble into something horrifying beyond their comprehension. At times, it's a bit jumbled and disjointed, but there's more than enough interesting stuff, both humor and horror, to keep it lively.
