The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two FatesThe Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Two boys with the same name, the same age, grow up in the tougher neighborhoods of Baltimore, raised by single working mothers, to meet different fates. One, the author, will be become an investment banker, Rhodes scholar, and aide to Condoleezza Rice. The other will serve a life sentence in prison. The author in essence writes two biographies to try to figure out what made the fates so different. It's an interesting, often depressing, story of choices, more often the choices of family rather than the boys themselves. At times, the book is a little overwritten and preachy, but it's always interesting and thoughtful.
