Full Dark, No StarsFull Dark, No Stars by Stephen King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a collection of 4 stories, loosely connected around the themes of marriage and secrets. "1922" deals with a Nebraska farmer who takes extreme measures to stop his wife from selling family land, with horrible repurcussions. In "Big Driver," a writer of cozy mysteries is raped and left for dead and embarks on a path of revenge. The shortest and, in my opinion, best story is "Fair Extension," about a man with cancer who makes a diabolical deal to extend his life. Finally, a woman learns that her husband of 27 years has been keeping a terrible secret, making her question her "A Good Marriage."

As the title of the book suggests, all these stories are very dark and they often go to really disturbing places. That said, they are very well done. In my opinion, this is King's best book in a very long while. Highly recommended.
