Training update

I ran 18 miles yesterday. Longest run so far.

Okay, that's a lie. I ran most of it. I walked some of it.

My calves hurt. I can feel the lines where they tore back in February. They were clearly weakened by that injury, but this is the first time I've crossed the line where they show it. They actually didn't hurt while I was running or for a time after. They started late yesterday afternoon, and have continued through now. Only when I'm on them. Walking, for instance. Or standing and teaching, like I did this morning.

Yes, I'm at work. We don't get Labor Day off. Well, we sort of do. I get it as a holiday, but the school is open and I have to teach. So I get a paid holiday to use later. I'll likely use it for the day after Thanksgiving.

One advantage: easiest, shortest commute ever.

Wow, if you're at 18 miles, then your race must be close. What day is it?

In two weeks, I run for 20. That's the longest run before the race itself.
